LETTER XVI

To Brother Leo.

Brother Leo, thy Brother Francis salutes thee and wishes thee peace. I speak to thee, my son, as a mother, for all that we said on the road is contained briefly in that one word. If later on thou dost wish to come to me for counsel, I advise thee to come. Whatever thou thinkest thou canst do to please the Lord God, and to follow His example and His poverty, thou mayest do, with the blessing of God and my permission. And if, for the good of thy soul or thy consolation, thou dost wish to come to me, my Leo, come. Farewell in the Lord.
